a hands-on project where students and apprentices collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to design, build, and test innovative robotic systems — from the first concept and digital models to fully functional prototypes. through continuous iteration of virtual and physical prototypes, participants gain authentic product development experience while strengthening their creativity, engineering skills, and resilience. the course is jointly offered by IPEK and IRS.

We are developing a fully autonomous agricultural robot that independently takes over the demanding task of pruning vines in vineyards. Its tracked base and custom-built robotic arm guide an electric pruning shear to the vines with millimetre-level precision. Powered by advanced AI and supported by state-of-the-art 3D camera technology, the system analyzes each cut in real time. Thanks to the great support of KIT nova, we are able to successfully turn this sophisticated robotics solution for modern viticulture into reality.
